The Fresno State Athletics department announced on April 6 via Instagram that Vance Walberg will be the next head coach for the men’s basketball program after the departure of former Head Coach Justin Hutson.
Walberg is a Central Valley native who previously coached at Clovis West High School from 2016-24. He also brings professional experience to the new role.
Walberg spent several seasons in the NCAA as head coach at Pepperdine University and assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts.
After he became an assistant coach for three NBA teams, starting at the Denver Nuggets moving to the Philadelphia 76ers and finishing with the Sacramento Kings
Walberg is now the 20th head coach in history for the Fresno State men’s basketball team.
