Students can now put in their application to be a part of the Student Equity Advisory Council (SEAC).
Applications will be available until Monday, March 25, and can be submitted by filling out an online survey.
The council provides a space for students to share any concerns they have and feel should be prioritized by leadership.
Rashanda Booker, inaugural university diversity officer, created the council to give students a voice and provide a space where they feel like they belong.
“Students are the reason why I have been doing this job for 20-plus years,” Booker said.
Council members will take part in meeting with Booker once a month throughout the year. Booker said there is a minimum of 16 students needed to be involved with the council in order for it to work effectively.
“The council is a place where students have the opportunity to be a part of something to make sure Fresno State is a place where anyone can feel like they belong,” Booker said.
Diversity and inclusion are what the university is striving for and the reason Booker launched the council.
After applying, students will receive an email regarding the status of their application, but the selected members will be announced on April 25 at the Division of Equity and Engagement Spring Town Hall.
