Fresno State hosts club rush during Valentine’s Day

Pink hearts, candies and flowers filled the free speech area on Valentine’s Day. But instead of couples, Fresno State students looked to match make with the various clubs and organizations on campus.
On Feb. 14, club rush kicked off and booths were set up to inform the campus community about upcoming events. Organizations such as Associated Students Inc. (ASI), fraternities and sororities and clubs also recruited students to join.
Here are some of the organizations that tabled its upcoming events, along with deadlines.

ASI President Caroline Alvarez hosted a booth, petitioning students to join the student government. She told The Collegian all positions are open for the next student elections.
Petitions are due this Friday at 5 p.m. Students can find how to join ASI leaders here.

Upcoming Cesar Chavez commemoration
The Fresno State Cross-Cultural and Gender Center promoted its annual commemoration of Cesar Chavez. The event will be at the Peace Gardens on March 22

Learning French at Fresno
The Fresno State French club made sure everyone got a Valentine’s Day card with its booth, providing French quotes on the back of each one. One had a quote about relationships by French philosopher Simone de Beauvior.
The club will be tabling at the free speech area again for Mardi Gras on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For commuters and off-campus students
The Fresno State Off-Campus Student Life Program promoted its upcoming events this semester. It provides services for students who commute from different cities or live off campus.
It recently gave out free teriyaki bowls from Sticky Rice on Wheels. Students received the free meal on Wednesday by the Resnick Student Union. For more events, here is their social media.

The multicultural fraternity hosted a booth to promote its red-carpet event, Nakology. The event will be help on Saturday at 1737 E. Shaw Ave. It also had DJ Burns, who is a fraternity alumni, perform in the food court.
