The coroner identified the man that was killed in a North Fresno collision Saturday night as a Fresno State alumnus. 

The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office identified him as André Aguilar, 22. 

Around 11 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call for a single-traffic collision just off Chestnut Avenue, north of Herndon Avenue, Fresno Police Sgt. Bill Dooley said. Four victims, including Aguilar, were transported to a hospital. 

Aguilar died later at the hospital due to his injuries, according to Dooley. Malakeh Jaber, 19, was identified as the driver in the collision. 

Dooley said she was arrested on the suspicion of driving under the influence, causing injury and death while intoxicated. She previously served as the Fresno State senator of greek affairs during the 2020-21 academic year.

Aguilar graduated from Fresno State this past school year, and a memorial fund has been created through GoFundMe. According to the page, he graduated in spring 2021 with an agricultural business degree and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. The organizer of the fundraiser also said Aguilar grew up in Tulare County.

Fresno County Sheriff’s spokesperson Tony Botti said bail was set at $167,000. Jaber posted a bond of $15,450 and was released from jail on Sunday, Botti said. Jaber is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 12.

Police are still investigating the collision.
