Former Fresno State men’s basketball guard Jarred Hyder has committed to the California Golden Bears.
Hyder announced the move to Cal in a tweet sent out Saturday during the final day of the NFL Draft. Hyder simply captioned the announcement with “#GoBears.”
The 6-foot-3 and 180-pound true freshman guard from San Bernardino, Calif., played one season with the Bulldogs, started in 24 games (played in 26 games) and averaged 9.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
Hyder scored his season-high as a Bulldog on Paul George Day against the Winthrop Eagles where he posted 26 points with a season-best five 3-pointers in a 77-74 win.
As a freshman, Hyder scored at least 20 points in four games — the third-most by a Fresno State freshman in the last 15 seasons. Paul George currently leads that category with six 20-point games during the 2008-09 season.
Hyder will be joining fellow San Bernardino native guard Matt Bradley at Cal. Bradley said in a tweet he was excited to play with another member of the San Bernardino community.

The NCAA is expected to pass a one-time immediate eligibility transfer waiver for all transfers. However, according to a press release sent out on Friday, the Division I Council recommended that the vote on this waiver be pushed to next month due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
If it doesn’t pass, Hyder will have to redshirt his sophomore season, but will still have three years of eligibility left at Cal.
