Quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots capped off the 2019 with a 13-3 Super Bowl win against the Los Angeles Rams. The win gave both Brady and the Patriots their sixth Super Bowl victory, tying the all-time record for the most Super Bowl championships and adding to Brady’s record of most Super Bowl victories by a quarterback.

But not everyone may be aware, Brady has ties to Fresno and Fresno State Athletics. His sister Maureen Brady played for historic head coach Margie Wright on the Bulldogs softball team from 1992-95.

During her time with the ‘Dogs, Maureen was an All-American pitcher in 1994 as she led the National in wins with 34. Maureen finished her career with a record of 80-31 on 748.2 career innings pitched, helping the Bulldogs reach the Women’s College World Series twice, while being named Fresno State Athlete of the Year in her final season.

Brady spoke highly of his sister this past week, acknowledging Fresno State and his sister at press row in Atlanta. And even with his six championships, Brady still believes that Maureen is the best athlete the family has ever had.

“She was the best athlete in our family, great competitor, so much toughness. I remember when I was a kid traveling around and watching them going to their games, their tournaments on the weekends, she’d pitch like six or seven games in a day. And she’d go 7-0 with two no-hitters” Brady said.

“It was unbelievable and she went on to college at Fresno State, played for a great coach in Margie Wright. And I used to go up and visit her when she was pitching for Fresno State. And watch Trent Dilfer play. They had a great football team,” said Brady in reference to Fresno State.
