The Henry Madden Library is throwing a birthday party to commemorate the north wing’s 10 year anniversary, with cake and giveaways for students on Feb. 19 at 2 p.m..
One of the giveaways offered can be obtained by participating in the party’s passport activity. In this activity, participants will learn about the various resources that the offices in the library offer to students and receive rewards.
Public relations specialist for the Henry Madden Library Jessica Piffero was a Fresno State student when the north wing was opened ten years ago. She graduated the same semester as the reopening of the library.
“All of a sudden, it was great.” Piffero said. “Now, we have spaces where we can meet with classmates and work on group projects and study and collaborate between classes.”
Piffero said the library is planning to continue the north wing’s commitment to innovation and technology.
“We want to create environments where students can collaborate and grow together and create things and get hands on.”
The tech lending services at the library continue to provide students with opportunities to use equipment they wouldn’t have access to otherwise. They provide laptops, tablets, 3d printers and devices for audio and video.
The library faculty offers students even more assistance. Fresno State has librarians who are specialized in particular research subjects.
“If you have to write a research paper, they can tell you all of the journals and databases that you can be searching for sources,” Piffero said.
