Dear Editor,
I will be using this platform to spread my message, which is establishing a CSU Fresno police station in the middle of campus.
As you may recall, the university has its own police station that serves us.
Whether it’s waiting for a call or patrolling the streets, they are protecting and helping us.
But there is a problem with this, and it’s that the department doesn’t have a station or office in the middle of campus.
It is almost common sense that, here in the United States, there should be police everywhere.
The crime rate is high, and it should be lowered in schools because this is where the future is being created.
As students, we want to feel protected every moment we’re here at one of the top colleges in the nation.
Why should there be a police office in the middle of campus?
To make them more accessible to students.
The police officers are supposed to interact with students in order to sustain and create a healthy relationship.
Most students spend their time in the classrooms, but when they are transporting themselves to their next destination, there should be security present for them.
Present to receive questions. Present to watch over them. Present to greet them.
How nice does that sound?
Some may bring up that there are emergency phones strategically placed around campus.
However, there are more situations in which they are of no use than when they are actually useful to students.
A campus police office in the middle of campus will bring the campus closer to its goal of having a safe environment.
