A tripped circuit breaker caused a bank of lights to go out during the Fresno State Bulldogs football game against Hawaii last Saturday, according to Lisa Boyles, Fresno State’s public information officer.
During the first quarter, a bank of lights went out which caused approximately a 40-minute delay while a generator was used to restart the lights. Once the lights restarted, the game resumed play.
In a statement, Athletic Director Terry Tumey said that prior to Fresno State’s home game on Nov. 17 against San Diego State, all circuit breakers on the main distribution panel will be replaced and sub-panels will be tested.
A cam lock will also be added at the main panel, so a generator can be connected to any breaker, as another precautionary measure, the statement said.
“After the completion of the 2018 season, planning is already underway to upgrade a significant portion of the entire electrical distribution system,” Tumey’s statement said. “These upgrades are a part of a larger effort in addressing needed improvements at Bulldog Stadium.”
