A Fresno State diver was awarded Scholar All-American honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America in June, according to Fresno State Athletics.
The diver, Kelli Funk, who is in her junior year, was named an Honorable Mention Scholar All-American. Funk recorded a GPA of 3.50 during the 2018 spring semester, which raised her cumulative GPA from 3.14 to 3.23, all while qualifying for the NCAA Division I zone diving meet, a national collegiate swimming and diving competition.
Last semester was the tenth consecutive that Fresno State has earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors by posting a team term GPA of at least 3.0. Twenty of the 25 athletes on the team had GPAs of 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2018 semester.
Student-athletes must record a cumulative or term GPA of 3.50 in order to qualify for Individual Scholar All-America honors. In order to receive All-American honors, they must have competed at the NCAA National Championship.
To be named as an Honorable Mention, swimmers must have achieved an individual “B” time standard and compete at the NCAA Zone meet.
