The Fresno State women’s rugby club is ranked No. 1 in the nation for Division 2 collegiate sports, according to a news release from the university.
The team is scheduled to compete in the National Competition Friday and Saturday in Fullerton. They defeated University of California Irvine 74-14 and advanced to the USA Rugby Final Four.
The Bulldogs will take on Tulane in a semifinal match at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Titan Stadium at California State University Fullerton. The other semifinal match is between Claremont College and Salisbury University of North Carolina. The two winners will play at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for the national title, according to the news release.
The university further stated: Fresno State finished the regular season undefeated in conference play. The club won its conference championship with a 78-17 win over Nevada on April 7 at Cal Maritime Academy in Vallejo. Fresno State earned a first-round bye before defeating UC Irvine.
