Tuition rate won’t change for the 2018-19 school year, CSU chancellor says

California State University (CSU) tuition will neither increase or decrease for the 2018-2019 school year, according a news release by Fresno State President Dr. Joseph Castro.

CSU Chancellor Timothy White said the decision to leave tuition unchanged for the upcoming school year was influenced by the current financial environment of the CSU system.

According to Fresno State records, tuition for the 2017-2018 school year was $6,589 for full-time students.

“Our state’s economy is strong and many lawmakers support the CSU,” White said in the news release. “Thus, I have decided that it is in the best interest of California that tuition levels should remain unchanged.”

White also advocated for the state of California as a whole to fund the CSU system. He encouraged the CSU community to reach out to state leaders in favor of this cause.

“I look for your continued support as we emphasize to our state leaders that full funding for the California State University is key to California’s future,” White said. “Our future is now clearly and unambiguously in the hands of lawmakers.”
