More than 100 students will gather at Fresno State on Friday to compete in the 2018 California National Geographic State Bee at 9 a.m. in the Satellite Student Union.
The annual event, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, tests grade students on their knowledge of geography.
The participants range from grades four to eight and the event serves as a precursor to the National Geographic Bee. The winner of the state bee will be awarded $200 and a copy of the second edition of the National Geographic “Visual Atlas of the World.”
The winner will receive the opportunity to compete in the National Geographic Bee Championship in Washington D.C. from May 20 to 23.
