When I first started drinking beer I did it because everyone else was doing it. But i didn’t quite enjoy it. I always thought it was bitter and I didn’t like the flavor. I really didn’t think I was ever going to like beer.
It wasn’t until a friend decided to actually change up our beer of choice and I was introduce to microbrews that I really enjoyed a beer. After this I started trying out different beers with weird flavors and ingredients. It made beer drinking more enjoyable.
New flavors like Jalapeno-infused beer or beer made of Almonds bring out strange flavors for different types of palettes. Trying out new beers made me appreciate the process of beer-making and how much effort many of the small breweries put into their craft.
Locally, there are craft breweries like Fresno’s Tioga-Sequoia brewery, Full Circle brewery, House Of Pendragon from Visalia and Riley’s Brewing from Clovis who have been making beer and introducing locals to a whole plethora of flavors. There are other restaurants like BJ’s and Mad Duck that also craft their own beers with local flavors.
This new wave of local microbreweries and small independent craft breweries has made Fresno the place to go to for flavorful craft beer. In many Fresno restaurants you can find a well-crafted Indian Pale Ale (IPA) to a regular Lager that can go down smooth with any meal and they are all made locally.
Even the big corporations like Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors are coming out with small batch microbrew flavors to regain the ground they have lost to the small craft breweries.
This is the best time for craft beers with all the new innovations and experimentations of flavors. It’s easier to find a beer that anyone can enjoy.
