Fresno State President Dr. Joseph Castro is apparently more popular than you may think.
Recently, in a list of the “25 Higher Education Presidents to Follow on Twitter,” Castro was picked as No. 7 for university presidents to follow on the social media platform.
Castro was praised for promoting “not only his campus but also the local Fresno community” through his use of Twitter, according to the Oct. 30 blog posted on the website of international leadership speaker Dr. Josie Ahlquist.

Ahlquist noted Castro’s8,732 Twitter followers and his more than 11,000 tweets as of Oct. 30. She highlighted a tweet by Castro pledging to support undocumented students who benefit from the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which got more than 300 retweets.
The other tweet featured on the blog was an Oct. 17 tweet from a Twitter user asking him if he would be attending the Central Valley Higher Education Consortium. “Yes. See you there,” the president responded.
Castro took to none-other than Twitter to thank the post writer for considering him on the list. He branded his message with his popular “#BeBold” hashtag.
At No. 1 in the list of 25 is the president of Dillard University, Walter M. Kimbrough, who has more than 16,000 Twitter followers. Ahlquist noted Kimbrough’s “awesome” Twitter handle, @HipHopPrez.
