Fresno State alumnus Jose Ramirez improved to 20-0 Friday, defeating Jake Giuriceo with a technical knockout in the second round, increasing Ramirez’s knockout total to 15.
The 2012 U.S. Olympian boxer and Avenal native headlined the card at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada.
The scheduled 10-round fight was halted in Round 2 because of a cut over Giuriceo’s left eye which was bleeding profusely.
This match comes after Ramirez defeated Issouf Kinda at the Save Mart Center on Dec. 2. Ramirez, 24, is ranked No. 5 by the World Boxing Council for the Super Lightweight class of 140 pounds.
