Fresno State physical education lecturer Tim Hamel was named president-elect of the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

Hamel lectures in the department of kinesiology and will begin his three-year term as president of the association in June.

The association has more than 1,500 members from across the state who participate. Hamel previously served as vice-president of physical education for the organization.
