Every year for the past seven years or so, I have created a Christmas playlist because for me, one of the better parts about the season is the music. This year my playlist is all over the place in terms of artists and genres, but I can promise you, it’s festive as heck.
- “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé
Is it really Christmas without a bit of Bublé? I think not.
- “Ho Ho Hopefully” by The Maine
The Maine put out perhaps the greatest holiday EP back in 2008 and “Ho Ho Hopefully” is necessary on every one of my Christmas playlists.
- “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Dan + Shay
For those who lean more towards a Country Christmas, Dan and Shay’s cover of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” is my favorite country cover.
- “Mommy, Is There More Than Just One Santa Claus” by Kris Allen
Kris Allen put out a Christmas album earlier in November and this track is one of my favorites because it’s from the point of view of a kid who begins to question the continuity of Santa.
- “Sleigh Ride” by This Wild Life
Acoustic rock duo This Wild Life does one of my favorite covers of “Sleigh Ride” off of Fearless Records’ “Punk Goes Christmas” album.
- “Poor Mama” by Brighten
When you pity your parents because they don’t believe in Santa Claus and you’re the only rational one.
- “Greatest Time of Year” by Aly & AJ
An essential this time of year for any old school Disney fan.
- “Peace and Happiness” by Kris Allen
I know, there’s already a Kris Allen song on this list, but this one offers a powerful message and is something we all need and want this year.
- “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” by Weezer
A Christmas staple covered by Weezer. Need I say more?
- “Last Christmas” by Wham!
Pretty much everyone has covered this song, but you can’t go wrong with the original.
