Nancy Pelosi was re-elected as the Democratic House Minority Leader Wednesday morning — making it her eighth term.
After receiving the news she responded on twitter writing: “Honored to be elected by my colleagues to serve as Democratic Leader. Let’s get to work.”
Pelosi defeated Ohio Democratic Representative Tim Ryan. She received the support of two-thirds of House Democrats and won with 134 votes — Ryan received 63 votes.
She has been serving as the Minority Leader since Jan. 3, 2011 and previously served as the 52nd Speaker of the U.S. House of Representative from 2007 to 2011.
