If you are not completely tired of open world games or Arkham style combat, you might fall in love with Mad Max. It has great driving, satisfying combat, a great theme and … well, it’s got a cool car. I honestly cannot praise the game for great story, character development, or music as almost all of these are non-existent. The story and motives are completely singular; Max is a prick to everyone and never changes; and this is a game that you will want to have music playing over so that you don’t strangle yourself with your power cable. This does not mean that I didn’t have fun with the game, because I did. I’m just trying to warn those that are not as shallow as me that they might not enjoy it.
The world that you can drive around in is the world of the Mad Max movies. An apocalyptic sand world where deformed people fight over anything and everything. Then enters the beautiful Max who will ultimately save the day in his awesome car.
The car is probably the best thing about the entire game for me. You get to customize it in almost every way imaginable. You can attach as many sharp implements to it so as to make it look like a rusty dumpster behind a cutlery shop that’s going out of business.
Max’s motivation is simple: make a car that is as awesome as can be. There are many things that Max can do around the world to help others, but if you want to role play as Max, you will ignore all of them and only follow the main story line. If you go ahead and follow the main story missions and nothing else, you will probably finish the game in 8 hours, but trying to accomplish everything will be more like 40.
I really did enjoy the game. This is probably because I am a huge fan of the Aussie wasteland world and its obsession with V8s. If you want to get the game, wait for a bit and make sure to get it on sale because I cannot say buy it now at $30. Again the game is Mad Max and has the potential for a lot of fun.
