The Fresno State women’s soccer team wrapped up the weekend with a 3-0 victory against New Mexico on Sunday afternoon. The win is the first conference win of the season and the team also increased their unbeaten streak at home to five games.
On Friday night, the ’Dogs battled through double-overtime which resulted in a 1-1 tie with San Diego State.
“I think that we have a lot of players on the team that can influence the game,” Fresno State head coach Zwaschka said in a postgame interview. “I was proud of the people that came off the bench today who had a big influence, including Carly [Bracken] for having the assist on Julia’s goal. Those guys came off the bench and they wanted to show their stuff and that started to change the game for us. We keep preaching that it is a team effort, and even though we have people like Myra that are consistently dangerous for us, we have a variety of people that are proving themselves and we just want that to continue.”
The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 6-5-1 and a conference record of 1-2-1. The team will travel next week for two road games and will look to continue to build on their recent play in hopes of moving up the conference standings. The ’Dogs face Utah State on Friday at 2 p.m. and Boise State on Sunday at 11 a.m.
