In recognition for his community service, Fresno State plant science professor Dr. Anil Shrestha received President Barack Obama’s Volunteer Service Silver Award.
The award was started by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2003 and recognizes Americans who are making a positive impact.
In May, Shrestha volunteered in Nepal to help scientists, faculty and students develop skills in experimental designs and data analysis.
He currently teaches plant health, plant science, biometrics, weed science, pest management and crop productivity at Fresno State.
