Alexander Tran, a Fresno State graduate, is one of 57 students nationwide to be awarded a $5,000 fellowship from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
He graduated in May with a bachelor’s degree in biology and will attend medical school at Saint Louis University this semester, where he will be using his fellowship award.
Tran’s goal is to become a doctor and work with patients who lack access to primary care as well as patients encountering hardships within the health system.
The fellowship program provides 51 students with $5,000 each and six students with $15,000 each for their first-year graduate or professional study.
