A Fresno State football player was arrested by the Fresno State Police Department on Monday after he threatened to shoot female students on campus via a social media app.
Police found the student by working with Yik Yak to track the student’s phone number, Fresno State Police Chief David Huerta said.
Huerta said that it looks to be an isolated incident and police are still detaining the suspect.
The player faces state and possibly federal charges and will be booked into the Fresno County Jail, Huerta said.
The campus remained open, but many professors chose to cancel classes completely.
The Henry Madden Library was pictured in the post that contained the threat and specified the attack was to occur at 3 p.m.
No other information was immediately available.
