Peter Arnett, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter who has covered wars from Vietnam to Afghanistan and Iraq, will speak at Fresno State today at 10 a.m. in the Satellite Student Union.
Headlining the annual Roger Tatarian Symposium, Arnett will speak about his experiences with the Vietnam War and how the U.S. media became more critical of the conflict than it had of previous conflicts.
Arnett, who worked in Vietnam from 1962 to 1975, was one of only a few reporters who stayed in Saigon as U.S. troops evacuated and North Vietnamese troops took over the city.
The event corresponds with the release of his latest book, “Saigon Has Fallen,” on April 23, as well as with the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon on April 30.
