Fresno State President Joseph Castro participated inthe ALS ice bucket challenge and donated money toward amyotrophic lateral sclerosis research Tuesday, answering challenges madeby a number of students and administrators from the campus community over social media.
Castro also challenged the president of each university that the Fresno State football team will play this year to also participate in the viral charity sensation.
“Here at Fresno State, we’re used to Gatorade showers, but we’re also serious about conserving water, so we’ll just save the Gatorade shower for next time,” Castro said before being doused in cold water in a video released by University Communications.
In order to recycle the water used for the challenge, Castro stood in the university’s pool. Fresno State football senior linebackers Karl Mickelsen and Donavon Lewis dumped the water onto Castro.
