On Senior Day at Bulldog Stadium, the Fresno State lacrosse team won its first home game of the 2014 season.
Senior Kara Concheck and sophomore Anjelica Fuccillo scored four goals each, and junior Marcy Levatino added three in the Bulldogs’ 16-12 victory over the Saint Mary’s Gaels Thursday night.
The win also gives the ‘Dogs their first conference win of the year.
The Gaels scored the first goal of the game when Jaclyn Biggers zipped the ball past Fresno State goalie Lisa Barnaba.
Concheck’s first score of the contest tied the game at 1. Junior midfielder Holly Cisneros made the go-ahead goal before the Gaels retied the match.
Back-and-forth play followed until the ‘Dogs scored three straight goals by Allison Poust, Levatino and Fuccillo to pull them ahead 8-4.
The Gaels had the last laugh of the half after Biggers and Krista Morgan scored to cut Fresno State’s lead to 2.
The Bulldogs began the second half on a hot streak as they scored three straight goals to get into the double digits. The Gaels cut into the lead with two scores, but the ‘Dogs recovered and kept Saint Mary’s from getting control of the game.
The Bulldogs have now closed out their home season and will spend the remaining four games on the road, beginning April 15 at California.
