Fresno State students talk about their own fashion and campus styles
Here are several students’ views on their own attire and what articles of clothing they prefer to wear over anything else.
Brendan Ganji
Sophomore Brendan Ganji tends to stick to a more European taste when it comes to his wardrobe.
“I like to dress sharp, so sometimes you’ll see me around in a suit or something and I also like Toms,” Ganji said. “I really like Toms; they are really comfortable and you can just wear them anywhere.”
Ganji also said students should look towards store display and what models are wearing for new inspiration.
Gabby Bolin
Freshman Gabby Bolin said her sense of style depends on what mood she is in each day.
“I could be dressed really girly sometimes or hipster,” Bolin said. “Right now, I have more of a casual look that is just something I would throw on.”
When it comes to shopping, Bolin said her favorite stores to visit are Forever 21 and Foreign Exchange.
Bolin’s piece of advice for those afraid to step out of their comfort zone is to be bold.
“When you wear something new and people compliment you, it makes you feel ten times more confident,” Bolin said.
Joshua Medrano
Joshua Medrano said that his attire is more vintage and urban streetwear than anything else.
“I feel like there is nothing wrong with thrift shopping because you can kind of find cool vintage clothes there,” Medrano said. “I try to mix it up as well with a classier look.”
Medrano said he wears golf or driver caps instead of the more popular snapback hats that are seen on campus.
Medrano said campus fashion can have variety in tastes but also some similarities.
“I think it’s very diverse, that’s what I like about our campus,” Medrano said. “Of course you can see a lot of comparisons because it’s the Central Valley but everyone has unique sense of style too.”
Michael Zapata
Michael Zapata, who studies kinesiology and chemistry, said his fashion favors a more tailored look.
“I like to wear a variety of things such as coats, jackets and collared sweaters,” Zapata said. “I feel most comfortable in boots and dress shoes and I’m regularly wearing those types of things.”
Zapata said to stand out from the usual sweats and comfortable look, students should develop a sense of identity that would separate themselves from others.
“I think on campus there are some select individuals that roam around with some sophisticated looks to them,” Zapata said. “But, most people tend to be very casual in sweats and tennis shoes.”
Aimee Dockum
Music performance major, Aimee Dockum surfs several websites for foreign trends in Europe and Asia.
“I don’t like having the same look as everyone else, so I try to go for something out there,” Dockum said. “I like to look out of France and South Korea brands for inspiration.”
Dockum frequently visits the websites, coii.com and stylenanda.com to buy her clothing and accessories.
