Despite the cold weather, students are taking their personal wardrobes into account this semester.
Here are some student views on their own attire and what they look forward to wear in warmer weather.
Kevin Mintern
The freshman biology major prefers to stick to his favorite color, black and wears vintage apparel all year long. Mintern said a tip for those who shop at thrift stores is not to buy something solely because it is old- fashioned or trendy.
“I would suggest that just because it comes from a thrift store, doesn’t mean it’s cute,” Mintern said.
Mintern also said he prefers more of the colder weather and will still wear black when it’s hot outside.
Gage Marchini
Gage Marchini, who is majoring in economics and agricultural business, said he cannot live without his favorite pairs of Banana Republic chino pants. Marchini also said that he wears what makes him feel good and others should not worry what the current trends are.
“I think everyone worries too much about what the current trend is; it should be an expression of yourself, not the trend,” Marchini said.
When it comes to hot weather, Marchini opts for a casual beach look.
“I love beach clothes and will definitely wear shorts and sandals when it gets warmer,” Marchini said.
Denise Cappelletty
Denise Cappelletty, a junior business marketing major, said that she usually dresses for comfort and doesn’t look for trends or to celebrities for style help. Cappelletty is also ready for a warmer spring so she can wear skirts and dresses.
“I’m excited to wear lots of skirts and dresses that flow easily so I don’t feel contained; I also think every girl should have a little black dress because you can dress it up or down,” Cappelletty said.
Gabrielle Hudspeth
Senior pre-law major Gabrielle Hudspeth relies on how she’s feeling to decide what to wear daily.
“I don’t look to anybody for fashion sense; mine is always a reflection of my mood,” Hudspeth said.
Once it gets warmer, Hudspeth said she wants to wear shorts and dress more comfortably instead of layering on clothes for the cold.
David Jimenez
The junior graphic design major said he matches his music and fashion taste together.
“I go more for an indie folk type of style because it’s the genre I like listening to, and also rock,” said Jimenez.
Jimenez also had some advice for those looking to step into something new for spring.
“Just be more open-minded; who knows when you’re going to stumble upon something you like. I didn’t like a pair of shoes and then in a couple of months I actually ended up wearing them,” Jimenez said.
