The White House announced Feb. 7 that President Barack Obama plans to visit Fresno on Friday to talk about California’s record-breaking drought.
Details from the White House as to the location and time of the event in the upcoming days.
The visit comes amid an intense debate about the best way to address California’s drought.
Rep. David Valadao, a Republican whose district includes part of Fresno County, introduced a drought bill that was approved by the House of Representatives Wednesday.
Democrats claim that the bill would destroy some environmental protections. The bill also faces a White House veto threat.
The President also plans to meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan Friday near Palm Springs.
