The Fresno State women’s volleyball team has not lost a set since its 3-1 loss at San Diego State on Oct. 3.
This weekend’s victims were the San Jose State Spartans and Nevada Wolf Pack.
“I like how we’re taking care of business with the other teams,” said Fresno State coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell. “We were a little shaky out of the gates in the Mountain West, but I think we’re finding our stride right now.”

Last Friday, the Bulldogs honored their alumni with an easy victory.
Fresno State dominated Set 1 25-18 as Marissa Brand tallied five kills. She finished the night with her sixth double-double of her career with 13 kills and 12 digs.
“We were able to play our game most of the way and stay focused,” Brand said.
Fresno State prevented San Jose State from gaining a lead in the second set as well. The closest the Spartans got to the Bulldogs was a two-point deficit after a Hanah Blume kill made the score 22-20. Then, the Bulldogs went on a 3-1 run to win the frame and go into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
After the half, San Jose State led 10-5, but Fresno State rebounded and outscored the Spartans 10-3, forcing them to use both timeouts in the process. The Bulldogs continued their tear, and Holly Franks had the last kill to give her team the win.
Fresno State was able to commit fewer errors in this sweep. The team only committed 11 attack errors and two service errors (13 total), while San Jose State had 23 total.
“We’re doing a better job offensively, eliminating errors that we don’t need to make,” Netherby-Sewell said.

The Saturday evening matchup saw the Bulldogs get their best hitting mark of the season (.376).
In Set 1, Fresno State took advantage of nine errors by the Wolf Pack, including one to end the frame. Brand led the Bulldogs with four kills.
Senior outside hitter Korrin Wild scored the Bulldogs’ first four points of Set 2 after two kills and two service aces in a row. She finished the frame with a total of seven kills. Franks and junior setter Christina Lee added a service ace each in the set victory.
“Korrin’s pretty amazing. She can do it all,” Netherby-Sewell said. “For four years, I’ve wanted to put her in the middle and create some offense for her there. I’m just trying to get her as many touches as possible, and she’s doing a great job with them.”
Defense played a role in the Bulldogs’ Set 3 win. Fresno State had a total of four team blocks, while the Wolf Pack had none.
The Bulldogs are now 10-8 (4-2 in the conference) and will host New Mexico and Air Force this weekend.
