Fourth Quarter

(10:11 p.m.)­Final: Fresno State 38, UNLV 14. Check back later tonight for coverage of tonight’s game.

(9:55 p.m.)­Attendance for tonight is 37,604.

(9:48 p.m.)­Fresno State punts for the first time in the game; Bulldogs lead 38-14 with 11:25 left.

(9:44 p.m.) Fresno State takes over on downs at the Bulldogs 30. Home crowd is starting to thin now that the game seems to be out of reach.­

Third Quarter:­Fresno State 38, UNLV 14

(9:42 p.m.)­End of third quarter: Fresno State up 38-14 and Derek Carr just reached 10,000 career passing yard mark.

(9:31 p.m.) Colin McGuire hits a 36-yard field goal to give the Bulldogs 38-14 lead with three minutes left in the third. This came after an offensive interference penalty voided a Carr-to-Adams touchdown pass.

(9:20 p.m.) The Bulldogs defense force fourth-and-6 at the 31 for the Rebels — and Jonathan Norton levels Tim Cornett on a swing pass. Massive hit. Fresno State gets the ball on its 38.

Remember, Norton was the guy who saved the Bulldogs in their 41-40 win over Boise State — his pass deflection stopped the Broncos’ comeback.

(9:16 p.m.) After that touchdown drive, Carr only needs 16 passing yards to reach the 10,000-yard mark. UNLV converts on third down to move the ball to the Rebels 36.

(9:10 p.m.) Carr hits Adams for a 37-yard score — the fourth time tonight that Carr’s connected with Adams. Fresno State leads 36-14 with 9:57 left in the third.

(9:04 p.m.) Fresno State forced UNLV to punt on its first drive of the quarter. The Bulldogs converted a third down to move the chains to the Bulldogs 28.

Haltime update

(8:47 p.m.)Derek Carr’s broke the school’s all-time record of career touchdown passes and the Bulldogs’ defense has made some physical stops en route to a 28-14 lead over UNLV at the half.

Carr grabbed his 85th career touchdown pass — now the school record — on a 36-yard strike to Davante Adams in the second quarter. The Bulldogs have 404 total yards on offense and Carr is 19 of 30 for 287 passing yards and three scores — all passes caught by Adams.

The duo’s first score of the night came on the first play of the game: a 75-yard score by a wide-open Adams, who was left single-covered.

Fresno State has the lead, and the Rebels haven’t really challenged for it, but if there had to be a turning point, it was Isaiah Burse’s double pass interception that eventually led to a UNLV score.

Carr only needs 89 more passing yards to own the school record in that category.

Adams leads the Bulldogs with 146 receiving yards on four catches. The Bulldogs have stopped the Rebels on third down five times and once on fourth down.

Second Quarter:­Fresno State 28, UNLV 14

(8:39 p.m.) Final play of the half was an incompletion from Carr, who evaded pressure but couldn’t connect. The No. 17 Bulldogs lead ULNV 28-14 at the half. Will be posting some notes in a few.

(8:36 p.m.) Carr hits Burse for a 26-yard gain, putting the ball at the UNLV 12. Carr spikes the ball, leaving six seconds on the clock.

(8:34 p.m.)­ Carr connects with Josh Harper for 8-yard gain — 14 seconds left. UNLV calls a timeout after the play.

(8:34 p.m.) Fresno State moving the ball with haste in this current drive — ball is on the Rebels 46. Fresno State faces second-and-5 with 18 seconds, trying to get McGuire in field goal position at the very least.

(8:29 p.m.)­ Caleb Herring connects with Marcus Sullivan for a 14-yard touchdown pass — it came after a fourth-down Rebels conversion. Fresno State leads 28-14 with 1:07 left before halftime.

(8:27 p.m.)­ Fresno State tried some trickery of its own: an Isaiah Burse double pass was intercepted by Frank Crawford — Austin Wentworth brings him down.

(8:23 p.m.) Rebels tried to go for it on fourth-and-4 — a gamble that didn’t pay off for the Rebels. Fresno State gets the ball at the UNLV 42 with 3:55 left to play in the half. The Rebels lined up in punt formation in their failed fourth down conversion.

(8:20 p.m.) Bulldogs freshman kicker Colin McGuire misses a 49-yarder; UNLV’s ball at its 31.

(8:16 p.m.) Marteze Waller made a run for it on the first play — a 40-yard gain that put the Bulldogs at the UNLV 30. It was the first play following the missed field goal by UNLV. 5:22 remaining in the half.

(8:14 p.m.) Bulldogs defense delivers the pressure on third-and-10. UNLV’s Nolan Kohorst misses a 49-yard kick. Nikko Motta attributed with the deflection. Fresno State gets the ball on its 31.

Kohorst came up big for the Rebels in its last game against Hawaii, making the game-winning field goal in the Rebels 39-37 win.

(8:06 p.m.) Derek Carr now holds the school record for career touchdown passes — a 36-yarder from Carr to Adams hauled it in. Adams grabbed the pass, jolted toward the sidelines and went back toward the center of the field, dodging two Rebels defenders in the process to get in the end zone untouched. Crowd is electric after the score. Carr’s pass was the 85th of his career.

Fresno State up 28-7 with 10:20 to play in the first half.

(8:00 p.m.) Shaquille Murray-Lawrence blasts through the inside for a 73-yard touchdown run for the Rebels. Fresno State still up 21-7 with 12:06 in the first half. First time this game the Rebels got a big play.

(7:53 p.m.) Josh Quezada runs it in for a 2-yard score. Fresno State leads UNLV 21-0 with 12:44 to play in the first half. Looks like that record-breaking touchdown pass is gonna have to wait.

(7:50 p.m.) Derek Carr takes the snap on third-and-13 runs it to the 2 for a first down, but gets slammed trying to dive toward the end zone. Not the first time Carr’s done heroics on his feet. Remember that Nebraska game his sophomore year in 2011? Kind of like that. Carr’s scramble was good for 16 yards.

First Quarter: ­Fresno State 14, UNLV 0

(7:46 p.m.)­Burse takes a lateral pass to the 15, and Carr serves as a lead blocker for him. Waller grabs a 4-yard gain on the ground the following play. Fresno State faces second-and-6 at the Rebels 11 to end the first quarter.

(7:42 p.m.) Isaiah Burse stays inbounds and grabs a 19-yard pass from Carr. The ball is on the Rebels 25.

(7:40 p.m.)­Adams (two receptions for 103 yards) has secured his 10th career 100-yard game. Carr is 8 of 11 for 158 yards passing and two scores.

(7:36 p.m.)­Rebels quarterback Caleb Herring was sacked by Kyrie Wilson on third down; UNLV punted from its 29 (it had a 5-yard penalty go against them). Fresno State now has three sacks — one by Wilson, one from Ederaine and one from Washington. 2:13 to play in the first.

(7:33 p.m.)­RecordWatch: Carr has completed 7 of 10 passes for 110 yards and two scores. Next touchdown gives him the all-time record for touchdown passes. Paul Pinegar set the mark at 84.

(7:30 p.m.) Davante Adams makes a nice leaping catch from Carr on third down and takes it in the end zone for a 28-yard score. Fresno State up 14-0 with 4:42­ in the first quarter. Bulldogs have scored on their first two drives so far.

(7:21 p.m.)­Former Hall of Fame Fresno State basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian gets huge standing ovation from the crowd as the PA announces him.

(7:17 p.m.) Charles Washington grabs the first sack of the game for the Bulldogs, taking down Rebels quarterback Caleb Herring for a loss of 3. Ejiro Ederaine brings down Herring on the next play to force the punt. Bulldogs recover on their 21 with 10:13 to play in the first. Back-to-back sacks for the Bulldogs.

(7:09 p.m.) Derek Carr hits Davante Adams for a 75-yard score on the first play of the game. Adams was wide open. Fresno State is up 7-0 with 14:51 to play in the first quarter. Bad idea to defer?

Pregame­

(7:05 p.m) There was a moment of silence held for the late Dr. Pete Mehas, who passed away earlier in late September. A swarm of Fresno State football alumni greeted the Bulldogs as they entered the field running through the tunnel.

UNLV won the toss and deferred; Fresno State will receive the ball to start the game.

(6:42 p.m.)­Fresno State and UNLV are 22 minutes away from kickoff at Bulldog Stadium. Here’s a few notes heading up to tonight’s game:

— ­Fresno State is wearing its home red jerseys, white pants and throwback red helmets with the Bulldogs script for Homecoming.

— ­Quarterback Derek Carr is three touchdown passes and 33 completions away from breaking Fresno State school records in those categories. Carr is 376 passing yards away from reaching the 10,000 mark.

— ­The Bulldogs climbed up four spots in the AP Top 25 Poll to No. 17. Fresno State had a bye last week. “We should have byes more,” Bulldogs coach Tim DeRuyter said jokingly this week.

— ­UNLV enters the game on a four-game win streak for the first time since 1984. The Rebels are two wins away from becoming bowl eligible for the first time since 2000.

— ­The Bulldogs are 9-1 in Mountain West games and have won seven straight against conference competition. Tonight is the first meeting between Fresno State and UNLV as members of the Mountain West.

— ­Fresno State has not lost a home game under DeRuyter and has won its last nine games at Bulldog Stadium.

— ­Fresno State’s student section has sold out for the second time this season (it was also at capacity during the Bulldogs’ 41-40 win over Boise State on Sept. 20).
