The Fresno State lacrosse team got in an early lead against Stanford, but was not able to maintain it for long in its 21-8 loss to the host Cardinal on Tuesday.
Sara Weber and Kara Concheck scored early on a free position shots to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead over Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe, but Stanford countered with a 10-1 run to end the first half with a 14-5 lead.
Bulldogs goalkeeper Katie Wilbur recorded 12 saves against the Cardinal.
Concheck and Paula Badali led the Bulldogs in scoring with two goals each.
But it was a lopsided match offensively.
Stanford outshot the Bullodogs, 40-11, with 29 of those shot attempts coming in the first half.
Stanford’s Hannah Farr scored a game-high four goals.
Fresno State now enters a three-game MPSF home stretch (the only remaining games the Bulldogs will play at home this season).
The Bulldogs host San Diego State on Saturday, Oregon on April 10 and UC Davis on April 13.
