For the Fresno State men’s basketball team, shuffling the starting lineup isn’t anything new — but it seemed improved in the Bulldogs’ rematch against Nevada, team that mounted a comeback win in the first encounter.
Fresno State and its revamped lineup grabbed a 69-64 Mountain West Conference overtime win on the road against the Wolf Pack on Tuesday night.
With Braeden Anderson (playing his fifth game of the season), Tanner Giddings, Tyler Johnson, Kevin Olekaibe and Allen Huddleston in the starting mix, the Bulldogs held the Wolf Pack’s offensive duo of Malik Story and Deonte Burton at bay.
Johnson scored a game-high 19 points, Kevin Foster contributed 15 off the bench and Huddleston added 11 in a game in which the Bulldogs were trailing by 3 with six seconds left in regulation.
Foster made a game-saving 3 to tie the game at 58 and force it into overtime.
Johnson made a dunk off a Foster assist with 3:22 left to give Fresno State a 60-58 lead.
Fresno State (9-16, 3-9 MWC) never trailed in overtime.
Burton scored a team-high 12 points for the Wolf Pack.
