The Mountain West Conference announced its football rotational sequence and matchups for its first four seasons on Tuesday.
Fresno State will host intra-division rival Boise State and will play eight of its 12 games within state lines in the 2013 season.
The scheduling format for the 12-team football conference was computer-generated and consists of five intra-divisional games and three cross-divisional contests annually. Each school plays four home and four away games in its conference schedule.
The schedule is designed for every Mountain West opponent at home and on the road during a four-year cycle.
Fresno State hosts Nevada and UNLV and plays instate rivals San Jose State and SanDiego State, along with Hawaii, on the road next season in West Division play.
The Bulldogs face Mountain Division competition when they host Boise State and New Mexico and play Wyoming on the road.
“It’s very exciting to see the 2013 Mountain West schedule come out today,” Fresno State coach Tim DeRuyter said in a statement released by the athletics department.
“I know the Red Wave will be fired up to see longtime rivals Boise State and Nevada, as well as UNLV and New Mexico coming to Bulldog Stadium this fall. Playing road games at San Diego State and San Jose State will give our fans a great opportunity to support the ‘Dogs and show the Mountain West how well the Red Wave travels.”
Fresno State will not face Utah State, Air Force and Colorado State in the regular season until the 2015 season.
The inaugural Mountain West Conference championship will be played between the West and Mountain Division champions on Dec. 7 at the site of the team with the highest BCS standing.
Fresno State will compete against San Jose State, San Diego State, Hawaii, Nevada and UNLV in the West Division.
Boise State, Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah State will compete in the Mountain Division.
The Bulldogs open the season on Aug. 29 against Rutgers at Bulldog Stadium. Fresno State also plays Cal Poly, Colorado and Idaho in nonconference play.
The announcement of the complete 2013 Mountain West football schedule, with specific dates, is expected in the following weeks.
