Fresno State (5-3) picked up its first home win of the season today in its 3-0 sweep against UC Davis.
The Bulldogs set the pace early on and took control in the in the first set, a 25-23 win. Although the Aggies managed to tie the score at 17 and 23, they never had control of the outright lead.
UC Davis (3-5) got of to a quick 6-2 start in the second set, in which it led for most of the period. At one point trailing 20-22, Junior Megan Callahan attacked the ball three straight times from the right side for points.
Callahan led the Bulldogs to win the second set 26-24 when she provided the set-winning kill.
The ‘Dogs would go on to win the final set 25-23. Callahan and outside hitter Marissa Brand led the team in kills with 10 and 13, respectively.
The Bulldogs will conclude the tournament tonight at 7 p.m. against Utah Valley (3-4), which swept Sacramento State in its first matchup today.
