Rising electronic music duo Zeds Dead will be making a stop in Fresno for a night of heavy bass, dazzling lights and a sea of sweaty fans.

Level 10 Productions, a student-run event production company, is bringing “The Living Dead Tour” to Fresno’s Rainbow Ballroom on April 19.

The tour is headlined by Zeds Dead, a dubstep duo from Canada, and fellow Toronto-based rapper Omar LinX, who have collaborated with each other often. Rounding out the lineup will be AraabMUZIK, XI and Robotic Pirate Monkey.

Luke Monteleone, marketing manager for Level 10 Productions, said that its goal is to bring new and exciting talent to Fresno.

“We want to deliver the highest quality, talent-driven events possible,” Monteleone said.

Ryan Majors, production manager for Level 10 and sophomore business student at Fresno State, believes that Fresno has potential to become a hotspot for the electronic dance music scene.

Majors said that his goal is to get Fresno to buy into a nightlife scene, and fuel it.

“We’ll do the hard part and put it there ””­they’ve just got to show up,” Majors said.

The atmosphere that Level 10 tries to create at its concerts is like nothing Fresno has ever seen before.

“We want [people] to say, ‘I never expected this in Fresno,’” Monteleone said.

The company’s shows feature thousands of watts of speakers, ensuring enough bass to make your chest rattle, as well as professional-level lighting and stage setups.

“We want to make people’s jaws drop as much as possible,” Monteleone said.

“The Living Dead Tour” offers a rare blend of heavy dubstep music with rap and hip-hop, which is something many people may not have experienced before. Majors believes this may draw a new and different crowd to the show than they have seen previously.

“Fresno has taken a strong liking to dubstep,” Majors said, “but especially Zeds Dead because [they] have a strong influence with hip-hop.”

“I think it’s going to be such a kick because they just did an EP together and then we’re bringing them both together,” he said. “It complements each other really well.”

As an incentive for college students to attend their concerts, as well as a way to promote safety, Level 10 now offers a shuttle service to their events. The shuttle picks up at Millbrook Ave. and Bulldog Lane, conveniently located near the Fresno State campus and is only five dollars round-trip.

Some people may have reservations about attending events of this variety, but the guys behind Level 10 believe that this is the direction the music scene and nightlife entertainment is headed.

“DJs are the rock stars of our generation,” Majors said.

“Get out and experience it,” Monteleone said. “This is probably the most fun you’re going to be able to have in Fresno as a young adult that’s looking for a good time.”
