The search to find the next Fresno State head coach lasted only ten days. Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh announced that former Texas A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter will now be the face of the program as the ‘Dogs go into the Mountain West Conference next year.

DeRuyter is the 17th head coach in Bulldog history and inherits a team that went 4-9 last season. He replaces former head coach Pat Hill and will try to duplicate Hill’s 11 bowl games in 15 seasons.

DeRuyter was in charge of the Texas A&M defense the past two seasons and will try to mimic that success with the Fresno State defense, which was one of the worst units in the Western Athletic Conference last season.

He has over 22 years of Division I coaching experience and said he will begin recruiting immediately for the ‘Dogs with National Signing Day coming up in February.
