The following is a crime alert issued by the University Police Department regarding an incident on the evening of Sept. 26:

Shaw and Maple Avenues
On 09/26/2011 at approx. 8:20 pm, a male student was walking on the sidewalk located on the north side of Shaw Avenue. As he approached Maple Avenue, he was contacted by two black male adults.The suspects asked the victim to give them his property. When the victim told them he did not have anything in his possession, one of the suspects lifted up his shirt, and displayed a gun in his pants waistband. When the suspects saw that the victim did not have any property, they fled on foot southbound across Shaw Avenue into the North Park Apartments.
Suspect Information:
Suspect #1:Black male adult, early 20s, 6’1”/6’2”, slender build, medium complexion (light acne) black hair-corn rows, last seen wearing a dark blue hoody sweatshirt, and dark baggy shorts.
Suspect #2:Black male adult, early 20’s, 5’7”/5’8”, medium build, medium complexion, black faded/blocked hair, last seeing wearing a gray hoody sweatshirt (opened in front), red polo style shirt with light colored stripes, light (possibly acid washed) jean shorts or pants. Displayed a medium sized black semi-automatic handgun in waistband.
