Fresno State finally gets to play in front of its fans as they took the field against North Dakota for the first home game of the season. The ‘Dogs started off fast with sophomore quarterback Derek Carr hitting sophomore wideout Jalen Saunders in stride for the 86-yard touchdown pass. It gave the ‘Dogs the early 7-0 lead.
Later in the quarter, the Carr-to-Saunders combination worked again this time from 52-yards out to put Fresno State up 14-0. North Dakota got on the board next with a Jake Miller 70-yard run. The ‘Dogs came up to block the extra point to hold the Fighting Sioux to six points.
With a minute left in the half, North Dakota’s kicker hits the field goal to cut the Fresno State lead to 14-9. Senior wide receiver Devon Wylie gets the big 48-yard punt return to put the ‘Dogs in scoring position. Junior Robbie Rouse plows it in from two yards out to extend Fresno State lead 21-9. At the half, Fresno State has the 21-9 lead.
