The 8th annual Fig Fest was held at Fresno State on August 13. Forty-nine vendors and an estimated 2,000 guests filled the Agriculture East Lawn for a day of figs, wine and entertainment.
Attendees tasted a variety of the recipes served at local restaurants, all of them including the event’s signature ingredient.
This is the first year that the festival includes wine. Nine local wineries were on hand to serve red and white wines to go along with the green and purple fig edibles.
Along with fig and wine samples, there was children’s face painting and live music.
The festival’s organizer, the California Fig Advisory Board, aims to raise awareness of this fruit that is unique to the Central Valley.
