After nine scoreless innings in Fresno State’s first NCAA Regional game against Nebraska, the ‘Dogs snagged a thriller Friday afternoon off sophomore Diana Runge’s game-winning run in the 10th inning.
The 1-0 victory over the Cornhuskers allowed Fresno State to advance to tomorrow’s contest against the Stanford Cardinal. Stanford, the regional’s top seed, used a three-run third inning to score a 3-0 victory over Pacfic. The Bulldogs and Cardinal will square off Saturday at noon.
Senior Haley Gilleland and freshman Demi Walker were the only Bulldogs to record hits in the pitcher’s dual. Michelle Moses took the mound all 10 innings, fanning 10 batters and scattering seven hits. Nebraska’s Ashley Hagemann also pitched a gem, going all 10 innings and allowing just two hits. But a throwing error in the extra innings allowed Fresno State to get a leg up on the competition in this year’s NCAA Stanford Regional action.
