Just a day after Fresno State bested Nebraska in the opening game of the NCAA Stanford Regional, the Cornhuskers ended the ‘Dogs season via a 5-0 shutout.
After falling to the host Stanford Cardinal earlier in the day, Fresno State was the victim of double elimination in the Saturday evening portion of the doubleheader. Mackenzie Oakes took the loss for Fresno State (35-19 overall) as the Cornhuskers used a three-run fourth inning to send the Bulldogs packing.
The loss marked the final outing in Bulldog red for Fresno State’s four seniors Nicole Angene, Ashley Cox, Haley Gilleland and Caitlin Stiglich.
Fresno State again had a rough game at the plate, recording just three hits to Nebraska’s nine.
