“A Century of Excellence, 1911-2010,” the official history of California State University, Fresno’s first 100 years, will be published this summer as part of the year-long Centennial celebration.
Pre-publication orders are being taken for the coffee-table format, lavishly illustrated hard-cover publication, whose cover price is $49.95.
“A Century of Excellence” looks back at what’s happened that has taken Fresno State into the 21st century. Included are academic and athletic triumphs; buildings on two campuses; students, faculty and staff through the decades; presidents who have guided Fresno State; and student events, community connections and traditions that have defined the institution.
Photos run the gamut from Fresno State’s earliest days to the Centennial Homecoming last fall, reviving memories for alumni and campus visitors through the decades.
The book is written by well-known Valley author William B. Secrest Jr., the Fresno County Library’s local history librarian, and by Lanny Larson, a longtime journalist who is editor of University Communications at Fresno State.
Pre-publication orders can be placed through the Kennel Bookstore at Fresno State.
