It might be said that there are two types of people in this world: those who are suffering from a crisis and those who are recovering.
I’m a sufferer. I have yet to meet a student who hasn’t suffered. We’re students. That’s what we do. We suffer. We stress out over the sex, the roommates, the exams. We even stress out over the stress.
But, stress no more. Ever heard of the saying, “God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt?” the same applies to talk therapy.
The process is simple:
Step 1: Visit Area E of the Student Health Center during walk-in hours. On the first visit, you will fill out brief paperwork and talk with a counselor.
Step 2: The counselor will review your concerns and match you with services that meet your needs.
The answer is simple:
Not all people need therapy. Just a vast majority. I’m still a sufferer. The difference is, after counseling, i’m ready to recover. While some people who seek counseling have a chronic illness, most are dealing with normal life changing events and are simply in need of an objective listener.
There are many misconceptions about therapy ”” don’t knock it until you try it.
