After twenty minutes of play, Fresno State trails the fourth-seeded Baylor Bears 31-25 in first-round action of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
The ‘Dogs held their ground early on, keeping the game tied at four with 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
From there, the Bears took over, extending as much as a seven-point lead as the Fresno State offense went cold.
Fresno State did, however, regain the lead 20-19 with 6:31 to play on LaShay Fears’ layup past Baylor’s 6-foot-8-inch center Brittney Griner. But the Bears answered back with a 12-2 run before Rosie Moult’s buzzer-beater three cut Baylor’s halftime lead to six.
Griner, who averages nearly 19 points-per-game, has been limited to six first-half points on 2-of-8 shooting.
Likewise, the Bulldogs shot just 10-for-31 from the field, but has snagged eight offensive rebounds. Jaleesa Ross leads all Fresno State scorers and rebounders with seven points and five boards.
Backup guard Emma Andrews left the game late in the first half with a leg injury.
