The sculptor of prominently displayed art on the California State University, Fresno campus died on Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Fresno.
Clement Renzi, who succumbed to cancer at the age of 84, has work on exhibit in public places around the country. He had sculpted from his backyard studio in Fresno since the 1960s.
One of his two sculptures on campus, “The Three Graces,” can be seen outside of the entrance to the Music Building’s Concert Hall. The sculpture was cast in bronze in 1972 in Verona, Italy.
Renzi’s other work, “The Three Rs,” has been outside of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development since 1998. The Fresno County Office of Education sports a twin of “The Three Rs.”
His other pieces include a 7-foot bronze statue called “The Visit” in the Fulton Mall, as well as work at the University of Virginia, the University of Notre Dame and the Penn Academy of the Fine Arts.
He is survived by Professor Emeritus Dorothy Renzi, his wife, who was on the faculty at Fresno State from 1968-84.
