International Culture Night misrepresented
As a president of APIC I would like to thank The Collegian for covering us on International Culture Night on Sunday, Nov. 15. We, as a ten member committee (students from different countries) worked for an entire year to make this show happen. International Culture Night is the time when the world comes together as one.
I am an Indian and loved the Indian student club’s performance. But as an International student here. I appreciate all the other countries who performed equally well. It will be great to highlight other cultures as well during the International Education Week.
I was totally disappointed by the way the article shaped up highlighting student’s personal views and not the entire show. In fact, the students who talked about the Indian student club are not even aware of what the club does. When the details about one’s country are printed it is very important that we proofread it. The entire description of the event was provided in the brochure given to the reporter who covered us.
APIC is an organization that promotes International culture and all cultures are our favorites.
It will be great if other performances are highlighted this week. I have got many bad remarks about the article.
Please take this an an opinion of 1,000 attendees who attended the International Culture Night.
