FRESNO, CA – A record-breaking storm in the Fresno area has caused power outages and downed lines throughout the county.
Fresno rainfall reached 1.03 inches, beating the 1968’s record rainfall of .88 of an inch. Many Fresno State walkways have become inundated with water from the downpour.
Sandbags are effective to protect against flood damage. Fresno County Public Works and Planning provides free sand and empty bags for residents at various locations listed on their Web site.
PG&E warns that downed lines may be live and hazardous. Downed power lines should be reported to PG&E by calling (800) PGE-5002 (743-5002).
