Located just outside of Sanger Hobb’s Grove has become a local destination for kids, teenagers and adults during the Halloween season.
Hobb’s Grove was recently named one of the top 25 must see haunts in the United States by Haunted Attraction Magazine.
The ranking, which wasn̢۪t based on information such as number of visitors, was determined by whether or not the attraction could make their customers scream.
Hobb’s Grove qualified this year and its customers seem to agree.
“It’s probably one of the scariest places I have ever been during Halloween time,â€Â said California State University, Fresno student Allie Summers. “I don’t usually scream at scary movies or anything, but I never have a voice the day after I go to Hobb’s Grove because I screamed so much.â€Â
Since opening in 1999, people have passed through the attraction and some have even made the trip an annual tradition.
“I have gone to Hobb’s Grove every year since it opened,â€Â Summers said. “It still scares me to death every time I go there. I try to go on the first day it opens.â€Â
Others recently made their first trip out to Hobb’s Grove this year and were impressed by their outing.
Fresno State student Vanessa Carrillo said she experienced Hobb’s Grove for the first time with some friends.
“I think most people get a thrill out of going to places like the one this because it’s a once a year attraction. The experience in itself was out of this world. I personally don’t like the thought of scary stuff but since Halloween comes around once a year it was something new to experience since I have not been to one,â€Â Carillo said.
There are three main attractions at Hobb’s Grove: The Haunted Hayride, the Haunted House and the Haunted Forest, according to the Hobb’s Grove Web site.
During the off-season, Hobb’s Grove is used for weddings, parties and other events not related to Halloween.
While some people might find it hard to imagine Hobb’s Grove holding a wedding, the Hobb’s Grove Web site describes it as a picturesque site, with an abundance of trees and vegetation.
Hobb’s Grove is open six days a week from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The attraction will be open through Oct. 31.
